| Someone left their stash at church |  |
| Comprising of 21 Islamic gold dinars, 2,200 silver coins, a gold ring and a bit more gold the hoard found at Cluny Abbey is reported to be the largest stash of its kind ever found. While the silver coins were regular, everyday currency for the area at the time, the fact that they were with the gold Dinars and the gold ring makes this an interesting find for Archaeologists. Cluny Abbey founded by William I, Duke of Aquitaine, in 910 and was one of the largest abbeys of Western Europe during the Middle Ages. You can read more here. | |
