Important Update: Support for 3CX v18 is expiring soon – what you need to know:
- As we approach the expiration of support for 3CX v18 users, we want to ensure that you’re fully informed and prepared for the transition to version 20. The end of support for v18 is just around the corner (v18 will go EOL fully by the end of 2024), and while this change marks the end of an era for this version, it also opens the door to exciting new opportunities and improvements.
- In this blog, we’ll provide you with everything you need to know about the upcoming changes, how to make a smooth transition, and how our support team at Bluechip is here to help you every step of the way.
Assign your system owner before upgrading to v20:
- You must assign a system owner before upgrading to v20. Upgrading to V20 without a system owner will cause major issues which will require support from 3CX. Support requests will be charged 500 USD/EUR/GBPper license from the 15th of October 2024.
What does “End of Support” mean for 3CX v18 on the Hosted by 3CX platform?
- Effective from 1st of September, 3CX team will no longer provide free technical assistance for updates, nightly backups or security patches for v18 that is on the Hosted by 3CX platform.
3CX additional charge for technical support effective 15th October 2024:
From the 15th of October 2024, technical support for 3CX v18 will undergo significant changes.
- For 4SC and 8SC subscriptions: support will incur a fee of $100 USD/GBP/EUR per ticket.
- No Level 3 support: You will no longer receive level 3 support from 3CX for any v18 licenses regardless of subscription size.

EOL (End of Life): By the end of 2024, 3cx v18 will be end of life and there will be no support available.
How to Upgrade:
While the upgrade process is very simple and just 3 steps, it is important to plan:
- Set you System Owner and ensure you don’t have IP restrictions that stop you from accessing it remotely.
- Prepare by reading the v20 upgrade guide fully at https://www.3cx.com/docs/upgrading-pbx/
- Ensure you have your backups before beginning!
- The simple terms for the upgrade are:
- Access your 3CX Management Console
- Go to “Settings” and then “Updates”
- Click on “Upgrade”
- Remember – you cannot go back from v20 to v18 as you’re also upgrading operating platforms.
